Game 2 update

It would appear that Dustin McGowan has done just enough for Max rest comfortably tonight knowing he has won Game 2. A serviceable 5 points along with 1 from Bobby Jenks give Max a 52 point lead going into Brandon Webb's start tonight. It would take a game like Erik Bedard threw in Game 19 (9 2 0 0 0 15 - W) to earn Joe a tiebreaker win.

UPDATE: Webb gets through the first 1-2-3, but with no strikeouts.

UPDATE: Webb goes 1-2-3 in the second as well, but again with no strikeouts. A perfect game with no strikeouts would be 45 points - not enough.
UPDATE: This is nuts. Another 1-2-3 no strikeout inning for Webb. One angle I haven't considered is that Joe still gets his reliever. He would get 2 points from Accardo if Valverde, who is also on the D-Backs, doesn't get in the game. (If he does get in the game, it means that Webb doesn't go the distance and would not get enough points for Joe to get a win.) This means that Webb must get at least 5 strikeouts if he continues his perfect game.

UPDATE: OK, Dave Roberts just tripled for the Giants taking away the 10 point bonus for a no-hitter. Webb would now need 13 strikeouts and to go perfect the rest of the way.

UPDATE: Base hit by some scrub outfielder. It's over. Max wins.
